What is Humanistic Psychotherapy?

The kind of therapy I offer is grounded in a humanistic approach — and that makes it a little different from other forms you may have heard of, like CBT or psychoanalysis.

Humanistic therapy starts from a simple, radical idea: you are not a problem to be fixed. You're a person — with complexity, with insight, with the capacity to grow, to heal, and to live in a way that feels more aligned and meaningful.

Based on the premise that our unique way of looking at the world can impact our choices and actions. This means that our self-discovery and growth capacity to make rational choices are key, emphasising respect and concern for ourselves and others, which can help resolve internal conflict, finding and embodying your authentic self can lead to a deeply fulfilling life.

The work is collaborative. You set the pace.

Together, we explore your values, emotional world, sense of purpose, and what helps you feel fully alive.

This approach draws on Carl Rogers’ person-centred therapy — where unconditional positive regard, empathy, and genuine connection are central.

It’s about meeting you where you are, not where someone else thinks you should be. Rather than diagnosing, humanistic therapy focuses on your lived experience — what it feels like to be you. It’s grounded in the belief that people are fundamentally good, self-aware, and capable of meaningful choice with the right support.

In a humanistic space, you’re met as a whole person — not a set of symptoms.

Therapy is an exploration of self-discovery, self-acceptance, and the possibility for growth.

I offer a Humanistic approach based on Embodiment, Gestalt principles and Family Systems Therapy.

I propose an initial 30min free interview in person, in order for us to meet and to answer questions.
Sessions last one hour and are conducted in person in Barcelona. Online is occasionally possible for processes that are well established.
If you need to cancel, please do so at least 24h prior to our appointment, otherwise you will be charged, unless it is due to an emergency.

Meet Erika

From a young age, I was curious and introspective, always asking questions. Beneath this curiosity lay feelings of loneliness and social discomfort. My journey of self-discovery began with studying Neuroscience, but it wasn’t until a painful personal crisis that I truly began to heal.

Therapy helped me face deep-seated wounds, and through Body & Movement Psychotherapy training with Rio Abierto España, I found a life-changing approach to healing. This discipline integrates emotions, thoughts, and belonging through movement, empowering self-discovery and authenticity.

With additional training in Gestalt therapy and as a Doula, I’ve supported women and families through transformative moments. Now, through Ficus Therapy, I offer the same compassion and guidance that once helped me heal, empowering others to embark on their own journeys of growth.
